Josh Dallas Still Reining Champ

This is normally the part where I talk a little bit about who won last week’s Man Candy poll but this week is a bit different. I’ve gotten a lot of requests to keep the poll open for one more week. Why? Because Misha Collins came up from behind last week on the very last day of voting and completely smoked the competition. There was a small rally in votes for some of the other men in the competition but some didn’t feel there was enough time to even things up. So in the interest of fairness, I decided to extend the vote another week and give fans of the other men the chance to catch up. Since there is no actual Man Candy Monday this week, I’ve decided to treat Man Candy fans to a ten picture gallery of each nominee. Check out the galleries and cast your votes. So just before we get to the galleries, I wanted to take a moment to more clearly address the fans who votes for Mr. Misha Collins last week. I never for a moment intended to offend anyone or make it seem like Misha didn’t win fair and square. Here’s the deal. I was in a tough spot. I had fans for the other men on the poll giving me all sorts of trash talk saying I cheated so that Misha could win, insulting me and all sorts of other fun stuff. Now that the poll has remained open, I’m getting the same things other ways. This is one of those cases where I’m screwed no matter what I do. I decided to let the fans of the other boys put their money where their mouth it. Misha has a near insurmountable lead. The very idea that he could actually lose this didn’t occur to me for a moment. But if people want to complain they didn’t have the ‘chance’ to change things, why not give them a chance? I’m confident the outcome will be the same. I will be doing a profile about Misha next week and let me make this absolutely clear: I am absolutely thrilled about that. I am a huge fan and I’m excited to do his profile. 

To all Misha’s fans that votes last week I offer a sincere thank you. I’m sorry that you’re pissed off at me now. For the fans of the other guys who were pissed off at me Saturday night and Sunday morning, I’m sorry you didn’t rally the way Misha’s fans did. There are no excuses this week. The poll is here and you have plenty of time to vote for your favorites. For the record, if I had been cheating to get my guy to win, wouldn’t logic dictate I would cheat for the guy I put on the poll? 

I’m angry about this now and that’s not cool. I’m a broke ass writer not making a penny for this poll or any of the work I’m putting into it. I’m doing it because it’s fun. As a result, I have people hurling abuse. I remember how angry everyone was last year on American Idol when Pia got eliminated. It’s simple. If you don’t vote, the person you want to win isn’t going to win. Don’t blame the people behind the show and don’t blame the person that runs the blog.

With all that said, I stand behind my decision to keep the poll open. Yes it pissed people off but at the time, it seemed like the best of two bad options. Again, I appreciate every single vote. I appreciate the time it takes to vote and the time it takes to vote repeatedly. I’m sure Misha would appreciate all the effort you’re putting into this as well. He has fantastically loyal fans.     I’m sorry you have received such grief over this. I think Misha Collin fans, such as myself, are feeling extra prickly lately because he was written off Supernatural in a very unsatisfactory way, and it’s very uncertain that when his character FINALLY returns if it’ll be a permanent one or another heart stabbing disappointment if they kill him off again.

    As a result of this frustration, whenever I occasionally come across the positive article about Misha, it makes me smile because I feel as though he’s very much an underrated actor, and I’d love to see him gain more success. Every bit of attention he gains helps some.

    So when I saw Misha won this poll, I was excited, and I checked back here on Monday looking forward to read your profile on him. Then I felt a sting of disappointment and annoyance when I read that we’d have to wait a week, especially when it seemed unfair as I know Misha won this fair and square.

    If the People’s Choice Award is any indication, one thing Supernatural fans can do REALLY well is rally together to vote on polls. ;) I have a feeling the complaints you received from the other people stem from being unaware at how good the Supernatural fanbase is at doing this sort of thing.

    Anyway, while I’m disappointed in the choice you made, I certainly don’t wish you ill for it! I know how tempting it is to want to try and please everyone, and while I disagree with the choice you made, I do understand why you made it, and I hope everyone will lay off a bit on you. :) Thank you for taking the time to put up this fun poll in the first place, and I look forward to eventually reading your profile on him.

    Hey, it’s really no problem at all. Well, it sort of is, but it’s not your fault or Misha’s fans in general. You guys did an excellent job and if nothing else, you got people talking about him which is fantastic. I really do love the guy and I’m thrilled to get the chance to do his profile. He deserves it. I’ve learned a valuable lesson from all this as I’m sure a lot of people have – don’t mess with Misha fans! Seriously though, I guess I can’t please everyone. I made a call and I’m not sure it was the best decision.

    I’d just like to add one more thing. I appreciate you taking the time to comment on the post. It’s cool to disagree with someone but there are very few people out there that do it so calmly and rationally.

    I understand the reasons behind your decisions. And though I personally think it’s unfair you had to defer to the other Man Candydates’ (wink) fans, it is a good and transparent move to quash any allegations of cheating or rigging. As a blogger, your biggest asset is your credibility, and as annoying as it is, occasionally you have to do the crappy stuff to protect it. So, kudos to you and hang in there.

    I think what matters most is that in the end, the right man will win. People are still upset with Misha’s lead but it’s really rather simple – he deserves it and he has the support he needs to win. The only way a guy can win is if his fans get behind him. Clearly Misha has fans that are willing to do that and that makes me happy. There have been more write-in candidates since I kept the poll open than I’ve ever had before so that’ll make sure next week’s poll is interesting too. I’m going to be starting up a Man Candy Hall of Fame this week (or possibly next week depending on time). You can bet Misha’s name will be on that list for sure!

    I think it’s pretty easy to see that Misha wins! Those of us in the SPN fandom, when we want something, we try hard enough, we pretty much get what we want..we’re family, a very large crazy family, but you pretty much can’t stop a large family from rallying, and as it goes Misha is kinda like our older brother that we’d do anything for. We miss him on SPN, and he’s awesome so yeah..

    I happened to notice a lot of write-ins for Jensen and Jared which is exciting news. Jared will be on next week’s poll for sure. Sadly, Jensen can’t win as he’s already been featured in the past but he’ll be in the Hall of Fame when I get that up and running, hopefully before the end of the week.
