This Week's Man Candy Monday honoree, Nick Wechsler

I wouldn’t exactly call our last Candy Candidates poll a close race but it’s certainly been closer than the voting in recent weeks. Revenge‘s Nick Wechsler took the win with 52.1% of the vote – more than enough to earn him a Man Candy Monday profile. You can check it out by clicking here. Coming in a second was Justified star Timothy Olyphant who was followed closely by Twilight‘s Jackson Rathbone who took 8.4% of the vote for a distant third place finish. Not far behind Jackson? Boardwalk Empire‘s dearly departed Michael Pitt who garnered 7.9% of your votes with Criminal Mind‘s Matthew Gray Gubler hot on his heels with 7016%. Next, we had your write in candidates (Wilson Bethel, who can’t win, unfortunately as he was our previous Man Candy honoree, Geoff Stults, Nick’s Revenge co-star, Gabriel Mann and Wilson’s Hart of Dixie co-star, Cress Williams) who earned a combined 0.99% of your votes. Nick’s Revenge co-star, Joshua Bowman, landed in last place with only 0.74% of your total votes. So who got enough votes to make it onto this week’s poll along with your write ins and who have I bent the rules a little to add to the poll? Find out after the jump.

This Week's Man Candy: Wilson Bethel

I’m sort of racing against time on this week’s Candy Candidates post so I apologize for the somewhat half-assed nature of this post. My internet connection is being a knob (stupid snow) so yeah… let’s go! Last week’s poll was thrilling for me because my favorite nominee took the win by a mile. Wilson Bethel (view his Man Candy Monday post by clicking here) took a whopping 77.2% of the vote, even after a last minute surge in votes for second place finisher Matthew Gray Gubler who wound up with 10.76% of your votes. There was a tie for third place with Revenge‘s Nick Wechsler and Josh Bowman each getting 5.09% leaving Wilson’s Hart of Dixie co-star Scott Porter a distant fifth with 0.98%, just ahead of our write-in nominees (Boardwalk Empire‘s Michael Pitt, Justified‘s Timothy Olyphant and Twilight‘s Jackson Rathbone) who shared 0.59% of the vote. Finally, Criminal Minds star Shemar Moore finished last with only .2%. Have to admit, I find that last one a bit surprising but I guess that’s the way things go. It is my honor and my pleasure to present this week’s Man Candy Monday profile winner, the incredibly talented and ridiculously gorgeous, Johnny Depp. You can check out his full profile over at World of Female by clicking here. Before we get into this week’s poll, I want to take a moment or two to talk about why I’m so happy Johnny won. First of all, he is without a doubt one of my favorite actors working today. I’ve loved him since seeing him in Fear and Loathing Las Vegas when I was but a young thing and immediately rented as many of his movies as I could. Cry-Baby? Blow? Donnie Brasco? Finding Neverland? All freaking fantastic. Chocolat remains my favorite romantic movie to this very day. Then of course, you have the Pirates series and movies like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Alice in Wonderland. When Tim Burton and Johnny Depp get together, magic happens. I loved Sweeney Todd in ways I can’t begin to explain despite the fact I have a strong distaste for musicals. Johnny is an actor completely unafraid to take risks. I had been excited for The Rum Diary (my all time favorite book, by the way) since I heard about it and ran to the theater the moment it was released. Some would call it a flop because it didn’t exactly set the box office on fire. I, on the other hand, call it a roaring success and a tremendous adaptation of a tremendous book. Okay. Man Candy Champ, Misha Collins

Last week sucked. Saturday night I closed the Man Candy poll as I normally would. Misha Collins had a 90% lead and that was awesome. I declared Misha the winner and Sunday, I began preparing his profile to have it ready for Monday. Then something happened. A lot of people got very angry and sent me some nasty messages. It seems they felt they should’ve been given more time to vote for their favorites and demanded I reopen the poll. I bowed to pressure. At the time, it seemed the only fair thing to do considering the accusations I’d cheated to give Misha the win. Kind of ridiculous when you really think about it as Joshua Bowman of Revenge was the nominee I put on the poll. Were I cheating, it would make sense that I cheat in favor of Joshua but that’s really neither here not there. I made the decision I made and I stand by it. Why? Because in the end, Misha’s fans knocked the snot out of this poll and led Misha to a very impressive win with 89.22% of the final vote. Even so, controversy remained.Before we get to this week’s nominees, let me take a minute to say this once more: if you want your man to win you absolutely have to vote for him. Otherwise you have no right to complain. Okay, let’s get to this week’s candidates.

Josh Dallas Still Reining Champ

This is normally the part where I talk a little bit about who won last week’s Man Candy poll but this week is a bit different. I’ve gotten a lot of requests to keep the poll open for one more week. Why? Because Misha Collins came up from behind last week on the very last day of voting and completely smoked the competition. There was a small rally in votes for some of the other men in the competition but some didn’t feel there was enough time to even things up. So in the interest of fairness, I decided to extend the vote another week and give fans of the other men the chance to catch up. Since there is no actual Man Candy Monday this week, I’ve decided to treat Man Candy fans to a ten picture gallery of each nominee. Check out the galleries and cast your votes. Before we even get started I want to send a big thank you to everyone who voted last week. More people participated in the vote last week than ever before and by a fairly wide margin. One thing was clear by the time the polls closed. People love Josh Dallas and let me tell you this, that did my bitter heart good. I love this man. I put him on the poll a few weeks back but he didn’t get the votes he needed to stick around. This week, however? It was a total landslide. Josh took the win with an astounding 71.72% of the votes. His closest competition was Ryan Gosling who finished in a very distant second place with 10.66. Not so far behind him we had our third place finisher, Michael Trevino who earned 7.38%. Michael Pitt was hot on Trevino’s heels landing in fourth place with 6.97. Ryan Gosling, Michael Trevino and Michael Pitt move on to this week’s poll where they’ll be kept company by three all new candidates.

Edward Norton sadly ends his run this week. He landed in fifth place and garnered only 1.64% of the votes in the end. He did slightly better than my personal nomination from last week, Craig David who only earned 0.82% of the end total. He tied with the two write-in nominees who will be added to the poll this week, Supernatural‘s Misha Collins and Josh’s former Once Upon a Time costar, Jamie Dornan.
